The Profession of Teaching in Pakistan

A teacher is an individual who give education to the students. The responsibility of a teacher is ceremonial and continuing, carried out through employment or profession at a school or college. Those who want to start a career in teaching in Pakistan, the criteria for becoming a teacher is almost the same mostly in the world. One should get professional academic qualification in this filed from a recognized university or college. The degree or educational qualification that is necessary for a teacher should include the study of pedagogy, the art of teaching. Teachers may have to carry on their learning following their selection as a teacher. A teacher utilizes a lesson plan to help student getting knowledge and providing lessons for study. A teacher's job may be different among societies.

A teacher is the most important to the national economy and development, even as compared with the profession of a soldier. Even for soldiering we require teachers and instructors. So the making of teachers should be given the highest priority in any form of national planning.

The future of the country depends on right teachers. If we have suitable teachers, sooner or later we shall pull through all dangers and difficulties which our nation is facing today. And if we do not have the right teachers, then everything will go astray, however high may be our ambitions, plans and programmes.

If we want our descendants to carry forward the great traditions for which our ancestors have fought, lived and died. It is of the utmost importance that we should give the greatest priority our training institutions to which people of the highest caliber and integrity should be attracted. A good and noble teacher is truly the greatest nation builder. He influences thousands of children who influence their children and thus a chain reaction is created.

It is most regrettable that we have not been able to produce the right kind of teachers after independence and so our pre independence dreams have burst like coloured balloons. If even after twenty years we do not realize our blunder and remedy the situation by getting and training right kinds of teachers, we will never reach our targets of great Islamic heritage and may even lose our hard earned independence for ever.

Great teachers are the seeds of a great civilization and a great progress. Russia and America owe their technological progress and space rocketry to German scientists whom they kidnapped after the Second World War and paid them highest salaries.
